Random Temple is due to play DIME Presents this Friday (Jan 27th). A new monthly night showcasing DIME Denver’s favorite music on the scene. We only book music we love, so always expect a killer line up! We met Random (it’s his real name, his parents are Oregon hippies) at Stem Cider in RINO. He was playing an acoustic set and his voice was insane. This show is his first full band original set in a really long time, so his fans are excited, and so are we. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, with great lyrics and great hair. So be there at 8pm on Friday to experience his experience. In the meantime, We asked him some important/weird/insightful questions.
How did the band start?
I started playing open mic’s when I was a teenager, because my mom like really wanted me to haha, but seeing as how my mother and father were both singers, I obviously wanted to be a drummer, but that’s how I stared writing songs.
What’s your favorite venue to play in Denver?
I love playing at The Hi Dive and Larimer lounge.
What is your pet peeve?
Ughhh bad tippers!
What’s your band’s spirit animal?
My personal spirit animal is an Ocelot, but I’ll have to discuss with the band if the Ocelot specifically represents us as a whole.
Tell us about your next shows/releases/adventures?
So I’m in two other bands as the drummer, (Silver Face and Thistledown) and we are both releasing EP’s (silver face’s is out), I am releasing my electronic EP Jan 24th and I am working on a solo EP produced solely by myself to come out sometime next year as well as a FULL length LP to be released on a label.
What did you want to be when you were 10 years old?
I think I’ve always just wanted to be a musician. The bringers of peace, thought, and love.
Who is your idol?
My idol? I don’t know if I could choose just one person, but Daniel Rossen has always been a huge inspiration to me, as a singer songwriter and driving force of one of my all time favorite bands, Grizzly Bear.
